Wednesday Afternoon Handbuilding Class
April Ceramics Class. Four weeks long, Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm.
Service Description
Come learn the basics of ceramics hand building, or improve skills you already have! We can follow my lesson plans, or work collaboratively as a class to create projects based on student interests. Classes are small, and masks are encouraged. In this course we will go over the basics of ceramic hand building. Students will choose a new project each week to focus on, taking into account skill level and interest. The aim will be to finish a piece during each class period. Possible techniques we may learn include hand building techniques of pinch, coil, slab, and slump/hump molding. We will also go over the basics of glazing. All materials, clay and glaze, as well as tools and firing included, along with one shelf to store work. Projects will be student directed, meaning students can come up with ideas for what they'd like to make (within reason). Some sample projects could include things like: planters, platters, bowls, vases, cups/mugs, gameboards, whistles, small to medium sized sculptures, spoon rests or soap dishes, spoons, plates, lanterns, windchimes, etc. Classes are open to adults and kids of all abilities, ages 7 and up. Studio does not have stairs required to enter, and reasonable accommodations can be made for anyone who needs assistance.
